Chris "Mom" Mogged, 94, Shawano, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 3, 2016, with her daughters at her side. She was born May 10, 1922, in Passaic, New Jersey to Frank Coman and Elsie (Schumann) Coman-Young, the sixth of eight children. She attended Sunday School for 13 years without missing a single Sunday. Mom also taught Sunday School for many years in New Jersey. As a young woman, Mom worked at Chenille Bedspreads and at Grant's Five and Dime Store. Mom was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Totowa Borough, New Jersey during World War II.Mom met the love of her life, Otto "Dad,"at a roller skating rink. Mom came with another man, but left with Dad. It was love at first sight. She later found out that the whole thing had been planned by Dad and the other man (his friend) because Dad was too nervous to ask her out. They dated for a year and were married on January 1, 1943. Mom and Dad moved to Green Bay in 1953, and later settled in Kunesh where they raised their family. Mom also worked at Northern Shoe Company in Pulaski. In their golden years, Mom and Dad split their time between Arizona and Wisconsin. Dad passed away on July 4, 2007. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary that following January.Chris was known as Mom and Grandma to everyone that she met. Mom started knitting at age six and never stopped, learning how to crochet along the way. She made thousands of slippers, sweaters, dishcloths, and afghans throughout the years. Mom always welcomed sharing her skills with others, and she taught several of her children and grandchildren how to knit. Her patience was amazing. Mom loved her search-a-word books and all things chocolate. Most of all, she loved her family and spending time with them.Mom is survived by her six children: Otto III (Barb Allard), Albert (Cheryl), Keith (Carol), Andrew (Rosie), Karen (Michael) Giese, and Terri (Bryan) Bowles. She is further survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Coman; sisters-in-law and best friends: Ann Coman and Evelyn Glaser, and many friends and relatives.Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Mogged Jr.; three sisters: Margaret, Charlotte, and Grace; and three brothers: Frank, Andrew, and Albert.Family and friends are welcome to a celebration of Mom's life on Friday, July 8, 2016. Visitation will take place from 9am-11am at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 501 S. Main St., Oconto Falls. The Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11am, Pastor Carole Neitzel officiating. Entombment will take place at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.Mom's family would like to thank the nurses and staffs of Heartland Hospice and The Cottages-Shawano for their wonderful care, kindness, and support. A special thanks to Mom's neighbors at Mason Woods in Cecil for their friendship and care, especially in the years after Dad's passing.
